Lesson-Plan-1-3

The lesson plan below was made for introducing Grade 1 students to the concept of measurement using non-standard units. Students are hooked by listening to a story on measurement where two mice are trying to measure with what they have around them in order to see if the shoe they found will fit in their house. The story then comes to life by having the students do their own measuring using non-standard units. This lesson has students moving around the class, is hands on, and engaging. At the end of the lesson students reflect on their learning during a Think-Pair-Share where they are able to share their findings and connect with their classmates. This lesson is also embedded with UDL and DI planning so that every student has the ability to learn and succeed.
