The Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action address the historical and ongoing impacts of residential schools and promote reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. As a teacher candidate it is important to educate myself and my students on the impact of residential school on Indigenous families and communities. As an educator it is my job to prevent these abuses from ever happening again which is why it is important to include Indigenous culture and perspectives into my teaching as well as creating a space where everyone feels safe, welcomed and included in the classroom.
