Elementary Volunteer Experience
In the winter of 2020, I volunteered in a Kindergarten and Grades 3/4 classroom, and in winter of 2023, I volunteered in a Grade 1 class. During this time, I worked one-on-one with students, as well as in small and large groups, teaching art projects and the letters of the alphabet. I also supervised students outside, assisted them with self-assessments, and conducted reading assessments. Additionally, I managed transitions by monitoring time, guiding students in and out of the classroom, and helping them settle back into learning. This was a valuable experience for me as I got an insight to the teaching profession, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the daily responsibilities of an educator. While working with these students, I realized this was the career for me. Everyday their smiles and enthusiasm reaffirmed my passion and excitement for being in the classroom.
Volleyball Coaching Experience
I have volunteered my time in my hometown community as an assistant coach for a U13 girls club team and by running a skills development camp for Grades 4-7 at a local elementary school. During this time, I was responsible for setting up and taking down equipment, leading warm-ups, planning and demonstrating drills, and observing players as they practiced. I provided feedback to help them improve while ensuring their safety during practice and game play. Additionally, I fostered an environment of fair play and sportsmanship. I took my role as a leader seriously by being punctual, demonstrating responsibility, and ensuring all players were safely picked up after practice. This experience was incredibly valuable to me, as it allowed me to develop my teaching skills in an athletic setting. I discovered how much I enjoy helping children learn, grow, and improve, which has further reinforced my passion for teaching.

Extra-Curricular Activities
Outside of school I enjoy spending my time playing volleyball, going to the gym, golfing, skiing, and hiking. Each of these activities all contribute valuable skills that are transferable into teaching and learning. These activities have taught me teamwork, communication, adaptability and patience. I am so happy I get to enjoy these activities on a regular basis and am excited to incorporate the skills I have learned from them into the classroom.
